I think the FS part was meant with sarcasm but he forgot the emoticon at the end. .......If not then he NEEDS a good slap.
Personally I HATE JW weddings with a loathing...

can anyone verify, but aren't those supposed to be trashed?
there are no pre 1950's wt in there anymore.
i saw that book there though, wondering if once an elder realizes it, will it be trashed or not?
Even if there was a letter to the BOE telling them to remove them from the library (which afaik there isnt) then they would be farmed out to anyone who wanted them UNLESS there was direct instructions to destroy them (which afaik there hasnt been).
So if you think your KH is doing this get your nose in there and say you want some of them.
My KH has all the studies in scriptures, harp, etc etc but no WT or Awake prior to 1960. I have "borrowed" several bibles and volumes of Studies in the Scriptures without permission as there's a notice in the Library stating NOT to remove them. But I have returned most after finishing with them, the rest will find their way back also.
An Elder I know well has seen me replacing one of the Studies in Scriptures directly from my bag to the Library shelf with my comment to him as he was standing right next to me"I'd better return this I think".... He said nothing.

people, please don't be angry at me, but do you sometimes ask yourselves this question?
i do..
What Blondie said...
If they are currently right then they will be wrong tomorrow when they change it again. They should of had the balls to stick to the Stone Witness ideology, ...

keep it clean this is a family board!
i am really curious to get some thoughts from some of the england supporters...... the media over here in the usa has been pretty critical of the english squad, but it looks like the media in england is completely trashing the team.. it appears that much of the criticism is valid, but i also feel that england got shafted horribly by the blown call on the goal, and this is from a die-hard germany supporter.
i think germany was the better side yesterday, but who knows what would have happened if the score is 2-2 at halftime?
Im UK but not really a fanboy, but watched the game in question. I only start watching footie in the world cups mainly because they are supposedly the best of the best so tend to give a good show of skill.
However England were shite. They were not a team and had not enough ambition or desire to do well enough.... and it showed. There were a few splashes of talent but overall woefully inadequate.
Im watching Brazil v Chile at the mo and that is far more like it!! Not the ponderous crap England had to offer.

hello- i'm arguing with my parents now... well, call it debating.
i'm trying to give them a question they'll actually think about- something that will make them want to do more research.
a question (or questions), that if right, will make them reconsider whether they are in the "truth".... .
I've been thinking carefully thru my own situation with regard to my mother as well, she has 50 yrs in "the Truth" and is in her 70s. I also like you want her to KNOW whats what so that her faith if it continues is based on knowledge, ...however it also strikes me as cruel and unkind to take away the thing she has believed in for all this time and that is her whole world.
So I am divided as to what to do. I have taken the gradual approach so far in becomming inactive and being seen to do real research into the "Truth", That was for my benefit so that I could give it a fair shot and if it stood up to scrutiny then I'd reconsider my doubts. However my doubts are now very firm and I want out, BUT it cant just be a selfish snap decision for me, I have other considerations to consider also. One is that I know most of my family will shut down and I will lose the chance to help them if I act too hasty, but it's a balance as I have my own life I now want to pursue and the freedoms now on offer are very much appealing and exciting. So im being patient for now.
Like you I also want (when the time comes) for me leaving to be about doctrine, not about girls or gambling, or something else. I want the facts to be straight regarding my reasons and not clouded in personal or sexual matters that then lingers in gossip. Doctrine front and centre will be what everyone will be talking about, but most likely it will just be the badge "Apostate" after which all mental faculties will shut down among the R&F.
I see alot of similarities with your situation so I am prompted to offer something to your efforts.

As already said, try no to back yourself into a corner. Im keeping my mouth shut with my family also, even when opportunities come up I do not say its a CULT, I dont believe, etc.
"I have doubts", is acceptable, but if your tone of voice or answers stray too negative you lose the discussiuon and they shut off listening with defences UP.
My Regular Pioneer mother is reading my copy of Steven Hassans Combatting Cult Mind Control, BECAUSE I kept my mouth shut before hand and so far have not told her I quit! As soon as I do so, the chances of her reading anything else like my copy of A History of the End of the World, or even Crisis of Conscience fall to ZERO! She finds it interesting in so far as she feels it doesnt apply to the WTS, but could be useful in helping others in the ministry, but thats fine, she cant UNKNOW it can she. ...And I wanted her to get the CULT symptoms stuff in here brain ready for the DA in a few weeks time so maybe something will click. + I have other family in who will shut down if i push too far.
So be patient, choose your timing and think thru the likely consequences of both what you say and when you say it.

Sometimes it is the process rather than the method. Not that that makes any initial sense, so I'll try and explain.
They need to be in a mental place to THINK, BEFORE they will process the questions posed in the way that will be useful. You can ask the most brilliant questions but if they are not ready mentally to process them then they are wasted, however you have to start somewhere.
Personally here's the thought I had on my own whilst still a believer (but fed up with it through bad experiences)
How does prayer work? It takes 8 minutes for the light from the Sun to reach us travelling at 300,000 Kilometers per second. Prayer travels FASTER than light by several magnitudes... If it does indeed do so......HOW??
Or is Heaven in our immediate vicinity?
It is not answerable. But it serves the purpose which to make you THINK.
That is the process, make them think about what it is that they actually believe and accept (often unchallenged). Quote this method often.. (1 John 4:1) "Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world." Also the Beroeans: (Acts 17:10,11) "Carefully examining the Scriptures... as to whether these things were so."
My 2p.

bane, i started this thread because you have been hijacking other threads.
stick with this thread!.
Im a JW who would like to pretend Im not and never was. Does that count? Can I play? ohhh go on say I can.
I think you'll find that ppl like this are:
1. Either very NEW in "da TROOOOOF" i.e just baptized or soon to be maybe at the comming DA after a whirlwind 6 months of HIGHLY INTENSIVE once weekly WTS publications study (i.e 1 book + ongoing study in 2nd book) + reg meeting attendance and some d2d work and are very zealous pioneer wannabees. Hence unfamiliar with terms like BOE, ...Still big bullshit liers though.
2. Have had contact / upbringing in JW but never baptised, but have familly in hence aplogist mentality, but hence lack of terms like BOE, ...still big bullshit liers though.
3. Are real dyed in the wool JW who was baptised but has drifted, DFd, years ago but still BELIEVES, hence apologist mentality but memory fade of terms like BOE, ...still big bullshit liers though.
4. A nut job.
5. A JW(ish) nut job.
6. Intentionally left blank for illogical outcomes.
Does that help even in the slightest?
If you dont know what BOE means then here's a clue. Take the 1st letter of the anacronym (the shortened word made up of letters you dont understand the meaning of) and find a word that fits with the others letters in the anacronym.
So BOE could mean any of the following ..depending on the context:
Body of evidence
Boring old elders
Buy our enemas
Busy old endtimers
Basic output endtax
So you pays yer money and you takes your choices.

on a warm summer day when i was about 12 years old (early 1980s), i was home alone for a brief time (family had gone to the grocery store).
i had always been terrified of the demons and was constantly worried about a possible demon attack.
being born in, growing up a dub, the devil and his demons were always either on my mind or not too far from conscious thought.
Lets just set this straight once and for all... That was NO EARTHQUAKE!! Demunz are masters of illusion right so they shifted the tectonic plates just to scare you but really it was them all along you see! You see!!!!! (Damn emoticons I only know what about 5 of them even mean ffs another tool of the devil)
I bet you didnt play with yourself for quite a while after that lol.
Cheers
why won't any jw call me?i always call them and they avoid me or meet me only for study and meetings.they won't even start a conversation with me on msn!i feel somewhat uncomfortable within jw 'friends'.i have prayed a lot about this all of my adolescent years and still no response.did this happen to you too?.
Assuming of course you are fit and healthy physically then I'd say this:
Friendship is a 2 way street matey, be a friend to find one, all the old cliche's have something to offer here.
Stop thinking about YOU FFS!!. Love yourself 1st and others will detect this and your positivity and relaxed demeanor and will come to you. HAVE SOMETHING TO OFFER others, time, a helping hand, experience, kind words, encouragement, a listening ear, be there for someone! Find out what they need and go from there.
If you're really bitching because you dont have a GF then the same thing applies.
That's me being nice btw and it's for your own good.
Cheers
